What do you get when an Italian architect based in Paris turns her focus from retail projects to yachts? A groundbreaking 83.5-meter hybrid motor yacht built by Feadship with a one of a kind structure that continues to accumulate awards, notably the Best Motoryacht of the Year 2016.

Designed by Cristina Gherardi Design, Savannah boasts titles such as the first hybrid motor yacht and the first eco- friendly super yacht of its kind, while also being the first super yacht to have a complete metallic finish. The metal finishes are employed as art, as seen in the design of the exterior exhaust pipes, and in the subtle way stainless steel finishes tie together the yacht’s structure and decorative interior pieces.

The metallic theme is notably seen again in the yacht’s winding central staircase. Enclosing the grand wooden steps, a series of Sophie Mallebranche® woven metal panels are carefully placed to create an airy backdrop. Positioned at an angle, the long vertical panels form a soft curve, encapsulating the staircase while simultaneously allowing the passage of light in the space between each panel.

The model used, Creation 539 Variation 1, Pearl Silver, is applied as wall covering, giving the delicate material a durable finish that protects it from damage in the high traffic area. The composition of white and silver wires in the weave are enhanced by the passing rays of light, which create a luxurious, fluid effect on the surface of the material reminiscent of the undulating waves outside.

Savannah boasts six spacious staterooms, an innovative underwater lounge that allows a unique view of above and below the water, and two main outdoor deck lounges, complete with helideck and swimming pool. While each space is thoughtfully designed to have its own character, the sprawling layout is unified by a whimsical atmosphere defined by curved finishes, contrasting textures, and an abundance of glass panels for a stunning view of the sea.
