Dubai, United Arab Emirates – amidst the heat and glamour of central Dubai, the modern, geometric structure of the Dubai International Financial Centre serves as a global hub for trade, business, and international growth.

Creatively designed by Adam Tihany to provide luxurious lodging in a refined business atmosphere, the newly opened Four Seasons Hotel offers a pleasant contrast to the Centre’s urban style. Opting for soft, rounded edges and pops of contemporary colors, Tihany’s design brings a touch of whimsical sophistication to the business traveler’s experience.

Entering the hotel lobby, the visitor is welcomed into a tranquil respite from the heat and bustle of the Financial Complex. Silver droplets hang from the ceiling over a large reflective basin accentuated by Persian Blue columns creating a serene essence of water – the first of three locations Sophie Mallebranche woven metal is placed in the hotel.

The model, N°57 – Persian Blue, is applied here as wall covering on columns lining the full length windows that create the backdrop to this peaceful lobby - a design that is reciprocated in a complementary bronze color in the lobby of the floor below. One of Sophie’s most vivid colors, the columns are contrasted by long yellow tassels that add a touch of contemporary elegance to the common space.

To the side, the guests enter a lounge area for a refreshing drink. Lined with rich mahoganies and deep reds, the bar reflects the cozy atmosphere of an intimate gentleman’s club while contemporary sculptures and Sophie Mallebranche hanging panels, in Creation 534 Variation 4, add an accent of modern luxurious design. The silvery panels, hung as a central feature piece behind the bar, shimmer in the dim lighting, reflecting the quick dance of the bartender and mimicking the fluid qualities of his creations.

After a drink, the busy traveler retreats to one of the 106 boutique rooms where Sophie Mallebranche woven metal is used once again as glass laminated panels in the bathroom windows, this time in model N°8. A sleek, minimalistic design allows the panels to act as a subtle accent piece; playing with the natural outdoor light, the panels allow for a varying degree of transparency depending on the time of day – at night, the gold tinted iron grey panels become opaque, providing a higher degree of privacy, while during the day, they become more transparent, opening up a view of the city’s ever-expanding skyline.
